How we work

Four meetings, a plan you have seen twice before you pay for anything, and a price that shows who gets what. Here is the whole process, including the money.

The four meetings

  1. Contact

After you contact us and we arrange a meeting, we come and take a look and listen to what you want to do. We talk about the budget you have for the project and work out whether we can do what you would like within it.

We take measurements and notes so that we can prepare a draft of a plan to bring back to you.

  2. Follow up

Within a week or so we arrange a second meeting. We review the first draft of the plan and note any additions, adjustments or corrections needed for the final one.

We bring the head of our installation team, so that he understands the task at hand and can suggest anything else the project may need. He is looking at what the job will cost to do and whether there are additional things to be done to bring it to a successful finish.

  3. Power meeting

We go over the plan we have developed and present a price quotation that shows the cost of the cabinets and the cost of the labor. We work with our countertop vendor to show you the approximate cost of a countertop, and we talk through the other items you will need to buy, or have us buy for you, to complete the job.

You learn how to contact the other professionals we work with: the countertop shop, the electrician, the plumber, the tile installer, the painter. Each of them listens to what you want done and quotes you a price, and you pay each of them directly. Feel free to make deals with them. We have no financial arrangement with them, so you save money this way.

  4. Do the work

The cost of the cabinets is paid before we can proceed, and then we order them. The cabinets are set to arrive the afternoon the demolition is finished.

We install the base cabinets first, so the countertop shop can come and template. The countertops typically arrive about a week after templating, and we finish the rest of the cabinets while we wait. Once the tops are in, the plumber returns to connect the sink, the faucet, the dishwasher and the ice maker. If you are having painting done, the painters go next. The electrician usually works while we are installing cabinets.

How payment works

You will know every number before work starts, and none of them changes without your say.

We have no financial arrangement with the other trades, so nothing is added on top of their price. Feel free to make deals with them. And we do not run up any extra expense without your approval first.

  • Cabinets first

The cabinets are paid in full before we order them.

  • Labor in two halves

Half of the installation labor is due when the work starts. The balance is due at the end, with any additional expenses the crew incurred.

  • No surprises

We will not incur any additional expense without your approval first.

You can pay us by check, Venmo, Zelle or credit card. Card payments go through Helcim, and there is no fee charged for using a card.

How long it takes

Most basic kitchen cabinet installations are completed within two weeks. How long yours takes depends on the size of the project, on how hard it is to move in and out of the work area, and on how long the countertop shop needs to template, cut and prepare the tops.

The cabinets themselves are not the wait. They usually arrive in 3 to 10 days.

A realistic installation timeline

See one before you sign

We have no showroom, to keep the overhead down. Instead we have a number of satisfied customers we can visit, so you can see our work and even meet the people who live with it.
